Try substituting your favorite soda for the Cheerwine in these wings for equally delicious results.
Cheerwine Barbecure Wings
Makes about 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 (12-ounce) bottle Cheerwine soda
- 1 cup barbecue sauce*
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce*
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°. In a medium saucepan, bring soda to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook until reduced to 1⁄2 cup, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in barbecue sauce and hot sauce until combined.
- Cut off and discard wing tips; cut wings in half at joint.
- In a 12-inch cast-iron skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. Add chicken to skillet; cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add barbecue sauce mixture, stirring to coat.
- Bake until chicken is cooked through, about 10 minutes.
