Cranberry-Cider Glazed Ham
Makes 10 to 12 servings
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
- ¾ cup apple cider
- ½ cup stone-ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 (10-to 11-pound) bone-in smoked ham
- 1 cup water
- Garnish: fresh parsley, fresh cranberries, sautéed apples (see Kitchen Tip)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°. Spray a 12-inch cast-iron skillet with cooking spray.
- In the container of a blender, pulse together cranberry sauce, cider, mustard, and hot sauce until smooth.
- Using a sharp knife, lightly score outside of ham. Add 1 cup water to prepared pan; place ham in pan. Loosely cover with foil.
- Bake for 1 hour. Uncover and bake until a meat thermometer inserted in thickest portion of ham registers 160°, about 1 hour and 30 minutes more, basting with cranberry mixture every 30 minutes. (Loosely cover with foil to prevent excess browning, if necessary.) 5. Transfer ham to a serving platter, and loosely cover with foil. Let stand for 20 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley, cranberries, and apples, if desired.
Notes
KITCHEN TIP - To sauté apples for ham, melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add 1 small halved and 2 quartered medium apples; cook, turning occasionally, until browned, 5 to 8 minutes.
Excellent recipe but I also found the cider vinegar overpowering.I will reduce some apple cider vinegar again next time. Thankyou very much!!!
