Western North Carolina Barbecue Sauce
 
 
Ingredients
  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. In a medium Dutch oven, bring all ingredients to a simmer over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer to a glass jar with lid; cover and refrigerate up to 2 months.
